Boneless Prime Rib Recipe

Prime rib is known for serving for special occasions such as Christmas Dinner! It’s on the pricier side, so naturally you serve this in celebration of something. With my simple, perfect for Holiday Dinners, you will wow all of your guests with a tender, flavor packed Prime Rib!

What You’ll Need

  • boneless prime rib– Check the meat department of your grocery store for boneless prime rib.
  • ground mustard– Ground mustard is used for the rub on the prime rib.
  • Ranch Dressing Seasoning Mix– Check the salad dressing isle of the grocery store for packets of Ranch Dressing seasoning mix. This will get sprinkled over top of the prime rib before baking.

How To Cook A Boneless Prime Rib

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. and get roasting pan set and ready.
  2. Place boneless prime rib onto parchment paper. Pat dry with paper towel. Using a pastry brush, brush mustard generously over all sides of prime rib. Sprinkle dry Ranch Dressing Mix over top and use pastry brush to spread evenly. Gets a little messy, just spread the best you can. Does not have to be perfect. Using two large forks, transfer coated prime rib to roasting pan and place into oven. Cook for one hour then turn off oven, cover roast with foil and let sit in warm oven for another hour. Remove from oven and let rest for 30 minutes before slicing. Use a large serrated knife to cut prime rib into slices. Garnish the serving plate with fresh herbs, roasted vegetables and halved pomegranates if desired. Serve warm.

Can I Substitute The Ranch Dressing Seasoning?

Yes, if you don’t want to use the Ranch Dressing Seasoning, you can use 1 teaspoon of kosher salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper and 1/4 teaspoon of garlic salt. Mix together then sprinkle over top just like you would with the Ranch.

Transfer coated Prime Rib to a roasting pan. If you don’t have a roasting pan, you can use a large 9×13 inch pan if needed.

How Long To Cook Prime Rib?

You’ll cook your Prime Rib in a preheated 375 degrees F. oven uncovered for 1 hour.

Turn off oven, cover roast quickly with foil and re-close oven. Let sit in warm oven for another hour.

How Much Prime Rib Per Person?

As a rule of thumb, when buying a large prime rib, plan on one pound per person.

Because the muscles in this part of the cow are not used very much, the meat of a prime rib is tender and juicy. The marbling and cap of fat create a rich piece of meat that is full of flavor. When you taste a properly cooked prime rib, you see why the price tag is so high.

How To Serve Prime Rib

I like to use a large serving plate and garnish with fresh herbs, roasted vegetables and fruit. I used fresh sage, rosemary, fresh cranberries, halved pomegranate and roasted brussels sprouts.

Serve with my homemade mashed potatoes and one hour rolls. Perfect for Holiday Entertaining.
