OFFICERS ARE STILL INVESTIGATING A POSSIBLE CAUSE. WELL, PEOPLE IN THE GREENSBORO NEIGHBORHOOD ARE WORRIED TODAY AFTER A SHOOTING NEAR THEIR HOMES LEFT ONE MAN DEAD. POLICE FOUND 23 YEAR-OLD JARED LITTLE SHOT INSIDE A CAR SATURDAY AFTERNOON. KELLY KENDALL IS FOLLOWING THE STORY FOR US TODAY. KELLY. THE CAR JUST GOT REMOVED FROM THAT SCENE LESS THAN AN HOUR AGO. YEAH, PEOPLE LIVING IN THE LENOX PARK COMMONS NEIGHBORHOOD SAY THEIR CHILDREN WERE PLAYING RIGHT OVER THERE WHEN THEY HEARD A GUNSHOT GO OFF. NOW, WITH THAT CAR TOWED AWAY, THERE’S JUST A FEW MEMORIAL CANDLES LEFT BEHIND AND A WHOLE LOT OF QUESTIONS JUST PLAYING, DOING SIDEWALK CHALK BUBBLES, JUST PLAYING OUTSIDE, GEARING UP FOR SUMMER. THAT’S WHAT ONE GREENSBORO A MOTHER SAYS HER CHILDREN WERE UP TO WHEN THEY HEARD AND SAW SOMETHING FRIGHTENING. THEY CAME RUNNING HOME, TERRIFIED ABOUT WHAT THEY HAD HEARD, SCARED HER CHILDREN, TOLD HER THEY HEARD A LOUD SOUND AND SAW TWO PEOPLE RUNNING AWAY. SHE SAYS. AS POLICE ARRIVED ON THE SCENE, SHE LEARNED THE SOUND WAS A GUNSHOT. JUST IMAGINING THEM RUNNING BY MY CHILDREN. POTENTIALLY ARMED WAS ONE OF THE MOST TERRIFYING THINGS I’VE EXPERIENCED AS A PARENT IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD, SHE SAYS. SHE’S NEVER FELT UNSAFE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, AND SAYS IT’S COMMON FOR KIDS TO PLAY BY THEMSELVES AT THE EDGE OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD, BUT NOT ANY LONGER. WE’VE ALL AGREED IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD THAT THAT PROBABLY WON’T BE POSSIBLE ANYMORE. A FEW SLEEPLESS NIGHTS LATER, SHE SAYS SHE’S BEGINNING TO FEEL BETTER, BUT IS STILL LEFT WITH QUESTIONS. 'They came running home terrified’: Greensboro resident reacts to deadly shooting off of Kenneth Road

Residents of Lenox Park Commons say they are worried after a deadly shooting happened at the edge of their neighborhood near where children were playing.

Residents of a Greensboro neighborhood say they are worried after a shooting near their neighborhood left one man deadGreensboro police say on Saturday, they responded to a call about a shooting at the intersection of Kenneth Road and Nandina Drive. When police arrived at the scene, they say they found 23-year-old Winston-Salem resident Jayard Little in a vehicle with a gunshot wound. He was declared dead at the scene. Residents of the nearby Lenox Park Commons neighborhood are concerned about safety following the shooting. WXII 12 News spoke with one resident, who wished to remain anonymous, about what her kids saw.Get the latest news stories of interest by clicking hereShe says her children were playing with other local kids at the edge of their neighborhood when the shooting happened. “All the neighborhood kids were down on the edge of the neighborhood just playing, doing sidewalk chalk, bubbles, just playing outside, gearing up for summer,” she said. She said things then took a scary turn. “All of a sudden, they heard a loud gunshot,” she said. “They came running home terrified of what they had heard.”At first, she thought the loud noise her kids heard was a car backfiring because, she says, there’s never been any violence near her neighborhood. However, when police arrived at the scene, that’s when she knew something was wrong. “It was very traumatic,” she said.
