Made with fresh fruit, savory cheese, sweet honey, crunchy crackers, and more, this easy homemade Date Night Charcuterie Board is perfect for a romantic night at home!

I’m always looking for ways to spend more time with my family and loved ones. However, constantly going out to different restaurants and events can become hectic and costly. As a result, I find myself constantly on the hunt for fun ways to make staying in something special.

In my searches, I stumbled across charcuterie boards. Once reserved solely for fancy parties, they seem to be all over the place these days. Whether you’re making a traditional board, arranging fun desserts, or creating a unique brunch spread, there’s definitely a Charcuterie board for you. To gain some inspiration, take a look at these 20 incredible boards!

I can’t wait to throw together some fun snacks for my boys. However, for this board, in particular, I was inspired for a fancy stay-at-home date night with my husband. Instead of going out, waiting a ridiculous amount of time waiting to be seated, and fighting to talk over the voices of others, we enjoyed a quiet intimate night at home full of quality conversations and meaningful moments. Even better, this Date Night Charcuterie Board came together in minutes and provided a wide array of flavors and textures for a tasty dinner.

Ingredients for a Date Night Charcuterie Board

  • Aged Manchego – Made from the milk of sheep, this cheese has a zesty taste often described as being somewhat salty and a crumbly texture.
  • Goat cheese – Super versatile, this cheese comes in so many fun forms and flavors!
  • Red grapes – I recommend red grapes over green for added sweetness that pairs deliciously with the tangy flavors of cheese.
  • Crackers – I used Artesian crackers from a local Whole Foods, but grain-free almond crackers would be amazing as well.
  • Olives – There are 500 hundred different varieties of olives. I used a green, pitted variety, but choose whatever you like best.
  • Honey – Honey is the perfect sweet addition to any board.
  • Apple – Red or green varieties work well. If you want a sweeter flavor profile, opt for red varieties such as Fuji or Gala. Or, if you prefer a bit more of a tart flavor, green apples like Granny Smith go just as well with any Charcuterie board.
  • Prosciutto – A dry-cut ham served thinly sliced and uncooked, Prosciutto is hearty, just salty enough, and totally delicious.
  • Almonds – Delicious on their own, I added olive oil and roasted them on my own (instructions below).

Charcuterie Board Ideas for Special Ingredients

For my Date Night Charcuterie Board, I decided to take plain almonds and add a little more flavor by combining them with olive oil and salt and baking them. For this step, I used Joe’s Super Fused olive oil as it created an amazing infusion of flavor. If you want to give it a try, be sure to use code: 12JOYINTHEME for 12% off your order!

How to Prepare Roasted Almonds for Charcuterie Board

To prepare roasted almonds for delicious snacking, start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a bowl, combine the almonds, olive oil, and salt. Make sure the oil evenly coats the almonds, and place them in a single layer on your baking sheet. Roast for 5-8 minutes. Be sure to keep a close eye on them as they can burn quickly! Then, let them cool completely, and enjoy!

  • Brie
  • Bleu cheese
  • Thick bread
  • Pretzels
  • Jams

How to Assemble a Charcuterie Board

To assemble your Charcuterie board, first find a board, plate, or platter of choice. Then, add your cheeses followed by grapes, apple, and crackers. Be sure to overlap the cheese and cluster the piles of fruit and crackers to make them look aesthetically pleasing for your feed and convenient for easy snacking. Next, fill in the empty spaces with prosciutto and almonds. Finally, carefully drizzle the honey over your goat cheese. Be sure to have a cheese spreader nearby to avoid sticky fingers!

Feeling overwhelmed? 🌿 Sometimes, hitting pause is the bravest choice.

A moratorium, or intentional pause, it’s especially helpful when feeling stuck or burnt out. It’s a strategic break from routine or decision-making to allow for mental and emotional recovery. This pause provides space to reassess priorities, rejuvenate, and return with a clearer, more focused mindset.

It’s a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of overwhelm, enabling more deliberate, healthier choices moving forward.

A few places it’s been helpful for me to press pause:

1. Social Media: Take a week-long break. Reduces noise, consumption and comparasion, enhancing mental clarity.
2. Work Projects: Delegate or postpone non-urgent tasks. Allows focus on priorities, reducing burnout.
3. Personal Commitments: Politely decline new invites for a month. Frees up time for self-reflection and relaxation.
4. Spending: Implement a no-spend month except for essentials. Encourages financial reflection and savings growth.

These actions create space to breathe, reassess priorities, and make intentional choices moving forward. I’ve found clarity in these intentional pauses, and I’m curious—what could a moratorium look like for you? Share your thoughts or experiences below! 🤍

In a world that constantly pushes us to do more, real self-care teaches us the power of doing less. It’s in the moments we choose to let go, not add on, that we find our ability to genuinely care for ourselves. It is not the volume of tasks completed that shows our growth or self-care ability. Embrace the art of subtraction. ❤️

5 Ways to Do Less Right Now:

1. Prioritize Your Energy: Let’s give ourselves permission to reschedule those non-essential tasks and commitments. Sometimes, opting out is the truest form of self-kindness, even if it’s something we’ve been looking forward to.

2. Share the Load: Remember, it’s a sign of strength to ask for help. Lean on your partner, loved ones, colleagues, or community; it’s a chance to deepen connections and lighten your personal load.

3. Seek Convenience: Consider grocery delivery or cleaning services as an investment in your peace of mind. Even a short break can recharge your spirit.

4. Digital Peace: Unplugging can do wonders for your mood, energy, and perspective. If you’re consuming too much information, feeling emotionally reactive to certain content or accounts, or just need to quiet the noise, unplugging can be a wonderful idea!

5. Rest as a Ritual: Treat yourself to an early night—view it as an act of self-love and a step toward renewal, not a lost opportunity for productivity or late-night scrolling. 🌙💤

Remember, self-care isn’t about doing more; it’s about choosing what serves us best. What will you choose to do less of? ❤️

...

Moving beyond awareness into action against anxiety? Here’s how to start:

1.Seek Support: Consider talking to a therapist or joining a support group. You’re not alone in this. Not by a long shot!
2.Create a Self-Care Plan: Identify activities that soothe you and incorporate them regularly. This could be as simple as a nightly warm bath, practicing the 333 Rule for anxiety, purchasing an anxiety workbook, or beginning the search for a mental health professional.
3.Educate Yourself: Learn about anxiety. Understanding it can demystify the experience and help you find effective coping strategies.

Awareness is the first step, action is the next. Each small change is a powerful stride towards managing anxiety and embracing a more peaceful life. You’re doing better than you realize. 🤍

...

You’re not alone if you`ve ever felt guilty for practicing self-care ❤️

1. Social Conditioning: Many are socialized to prioritize others’ needs over their own, especially women. Taking time for self-care can feel like a deviation from these norms (Source: Journal of Health Psychology).

2. Perception of Selfishness There’s a common misconception that self-care is selfish or self-indulgent, leading to feelings of guilt (Source: American Psychological Association).

3. Role as Caregivers: Especially for mothers, the entrenched role as a primary caregiver can make self-care seem neglectful (Source: Journal of Family Issues).

4. Work-Life Balance Pressure: The modern pressure to excel in every aspect of life, including work and family, can make self-care seem like a luxury or waste of time (Source: Work, Employment and Society journal).

5. Cultural and Familial Expectations: Cultural and familial norms often dictate self-sacrifice as a virtue, especially in collectivist societies (Source: Psychology of Women Quarterly).

6. Fear of Missing Out (FOMO): The anxiety that something important might be missed while taking time for oneself can induce guilt (Source: Computers in Human Behavior journal).

7. Internalized Perfectionism: A personal trait of perfectionism can lead individuals to feel guilty about taking breaks for self-care, viewing it as unproductive (Source: Personality and Individual Differences journal).

8. Shame About Personal Needs: People often feel shame about having personal needs and desires, considering them to be weaknesses (Source: Journal of Counseling Psychology).

9. Anxiety over Judgement: Worrying about how others perceive their self-care practices can lead to guilt, especially with the fear of being judged as lazy or incompetent (Source: Journal of Health Psychology).

10. Lack of Recognition of Self-Care’s Value: A lack of understanding about the benefits of self-care and its impact on overall well-being can make individuals feel guilty for engaging in it (Source: Health Promotion International journal).

...

Caught in the invisible mental load of caring for others, we may lose ourselves. Guilt for seeking self-care whispers, and we say, ‘I’ll check in with myself later.’ But each day we ignore our own needs, the distance to self-compassion grows.

It’s time to change that narrative. Here are a few ways to start caring for yourself:

1. Set Boundaries: Like turning off your phone during family time or saying no to extra commitments.
2. Practice Self-Compassion: Treat yourself with kindness, just as you would a friend. Maybe it’s a quiet coffee alone or forgiving yourself for a less-than-perfect day.
3. Bypass Guilt: Remind yourself that self-care isn’t selfish; it’s necessary. Use this affirmation: I give myself permission to prioritize my well-being. My self-care is not selfish; it’s essential. By nurturing myself, I am better equipped to care for those I love.

These ideas might seem simple, but recognizing and acknowledging the weight of the mental load you carry is a crucial first step. It’s about giving yourself permission to start somewhere, no matter how small. Every journey begins with that moment of awareness. You’ve got this, friend. ❤️

Real self-care often involves confronting uncomfortable truths about ourselves, our habits, and our lives. It’s not just about relaxation and indulgence; it’s also about growth and sometimes facing the hard stuff. 🌿

Here’s why it can be uncomfortable:

1. Facing Personal Challenges: True self-care might mean addressing personal issues like anxiety, procrastination, or unhealthy habits, which is not always a pleasant experience.

2. Setting Boundaries: It often involves setting boundaries with others, which can lead to difficult conversations and, at times, conflict.

3. Prioritizing Needs Over Wants: Real self-care sometimes means doing what you need (like going to bed early) over what you want (like staying up late watching TV), which can feel like a sacrifice.

4. Emotional Vulnerability: It might require being honest and vulnerable about your feelings and needs, which can be daunting.

5. Breaking Comfort Zones: True self-care can mean stepping out of your comfort zone to grow and learn, which is inherently uncomfortable.

Stepping into discomfort is where real self-care begins. It’s where growth happens. It’s choosing to face challenges, set boundaries, and truly listen to ourselves. Yes, it’s difficult, but it’s in these moments we find our strength and authenticity. Let’s step into this space together. Embrace the uncomfortable and watch how it transforms you. 🤍

Trust that you have the strength to start this journey, and know that each step, no matter how small, is a powerful act of self-love. You’re not alone, mama. You’re courageous, and every effort you make in this journey is a testament to your strength and love for yourself. 🤍

Two questions to help prompt some direction:
• What are the activities or moments in your day make you feel most at peace with yourself? Reflect on these moments. How can you incorporate more of them into your daily routine to nurture your well-being and stay true to what genuinely fulfills you?

• Think about when you’ve felt the most drained or stressed. What boundaries could you set or adjustments could you make in your life to protect your energy and promote your mental and emotional health? Consider how establishing these boundaries can be a powerful form of self-love and a step towards authentic self-care.

Feeling the weight of anxiety growing? You’re not alone. 🌱 Sometimes, without even realizing it, we let anxiety sneak up and take the wheel. But guess what? You have the power to take back control. Here are three practical steps to keep anxiety in check:

1.Face Those Fears, One Step at a Time: It’s okay to feel uncomfortable. Start small – maybe it’s saying ‘yes’ to a social event or tackling a small task you’ve been avoiding. Each little step is a victory. 🌟
2.Create Your Self-Care Sanctuary: Self-care isn’t selfish, it’s essential. Whether it’s setting a bedtime routine, nourishing your body with wholesome foods, or finding joy in movement – it’s about giving your body and mind the care they deserve.
3.Breathe Through the Chaos: When life feels like a whirlwind, find a moment of peace in your day. It could be a 5-minute meditation, a brief walk, or just sitting quietly with your morning coffee. In these moments of stillness, you’re teaching your mind to find calm amidst the chaos. ☕️

And remember, if your anxiety feels overwhelming or debilitating, it’s not only okay, but important, to seek support from a mental health professional. There’s immense strength in asking for help, and it can be the first step towards reclaiming your peace of mind.

Managing anxiety isn’t about big, sweeping changes. It’s about those little steps that lead to big shifts in how we feel and cope. You’ve got this, and we’re here to walk this path with you.
