WHY THESE GREEN CHRISTMAS CRINKLE COOKIES ARE THE BEST!

With Christmas and the holiday season right around the corner, I was looking for an easy green cookie recipe made with a store bought cake mix and a few simple ingredients that would be fun for kids to bring to school to celebrate the day.

Let me just say that this recipe makes 36 cookies… by nightfall there were 13of themleft in my house.

  • These Green Crinkle Cookies are made using just FIVE ingredients … six if you count the food coloring 🙂
  • Even though these are Christmas Crinkle Cookies, you can totally pass these off as green St. Patrick’s Day cookies too #multitasking
  • These are the softest, fluffiest cookies and adding almond extract makes these sweet treats irresistible
  • Cake mixes are often Buy One, Get One so if you make two boxes of cake mix cookies, technically no one knows how many cookies you ate while in the kitchen alone
  • Easy to make, super cute, crazy tasty … “Hostest with the Mostest” award goes to … (insert your name HERE) …

To make these Green Christmas Crinkle Cookies, you will need:

  • White box cake mix – this is the foundation of your crinkle cookies
  • Eggs – for moisture and stabilization
  • Butter – FLAVOR
  • Powdered sugar – your crinkle cookies can crack but they aren’t crinkles without the powdered sugar on top
  • Almond extract – MORE FLAVOR
  • Green gel food coloring – bright green color perfect for the Christmas holidays

PRO TIPS FOR PERFECT CHRISTMAS CRINKLE COOKIES

  • Don’t be shy with the food coloring .. once you think your crinkle cookies are green enough, add a bit more. The cookies will lighten as they cook.
  • I prefer food coloring gel vs. liquid food coloring because it doesn’t compromise the consistency of the batter.
  • Don’t skip chilling the dough in the refrigerator. I brings the dough together and your cookies will be fluffier and hold their shape better if you chill the dough first.
  • You can flavor these Green Christmas Crinkle Cookies with any extract flavoring your like .. almond, vanilla, peppermint …
  • Using a small kitchen scoop is a great way to ensure you crinkles cookies are all the same size
  • If you want to kick up the Christmas dessert table presentation, re-drop your cookies top down in the powdered sugar one extra time right when they come out of the oven.
